11/2/2003  Powder Springs, GA

On November 3rd, 2003 the bodies of REALTORS Cynthia Williams of Acworth and Lori K. Brown of Powder Springs were found at a new construction site in the Oakwind Sub-division of Powder Springs.   Their bodies were found around 1:00pm in the Morrison Homes model sales office by a contractor in this out-of-the-way area of Cobb County.

Williams, 33 was shot twice and apparently strangled, Brown, 21 was shot once.  A black

Durango was reportedly seen driving from the scene.  News of their deaths spread throughout the local Atlanta REALTOR community leaving agents feeling vulnerable.

According to news from the Atlantic Journal-Constitution, a police affidavit indicated the women’s ATM cards had been used to verify their pin numbers prior to their deaths.  Over the next 12 hour period, their cards were used twice to take money from the women’s accounts.

30 year old Parolee Stacey Ian Humphreys of Dunwoody was arrested and faces the death penalty for this double homicide after being indicted by a grand jury in February, 2004.  Humphreys was captured near Milwaukee after police used technology to trace his cellular telephone to that area.  His arrest followed a high speed chase at speeds up to 100 mph through two counties, involving 4 police departments over a 34 mile area.  A 9mm Ruger semiautomatic found on Humphreys when he was arrest has been linked to the deaths of the agents.
