Planning is an essential part
of selling real estate. You could hardly have
a successful sale if you didn't plan to show the
homes clients are interested in, or if you didn't
plan correctly to bring the correct listing forms,
or sales contracts. Planning for your safety
is just as important and it can and should be a
natural part of your business.
Below are some planning
considerations:
Rule #1: Plan your day and
share it!
Ensure someone knows what your plans for the day
are. Share your schedule, who you will be
with, and provide timeframes that can be verified.
Rule #2: Plan to have a
fully charged cell phone battery and spare.
This important tool is necessary for performing your
job, and safety is a big part of our job.
Carry a spare battery or a charger in your car to
ensure you have a cell phone that works all day
long.
Rule #3: Plan your showing
appropriately.
If showing homes in remote and isolated areas, have
someone with you, or have someone meet you there.
Before an open house, introduce yourself to the
neighbors and let them know you are holding an open
house. This provides an extra measure of
safety and markets yourself at the same time!
Ensure the windows and doors are locked at your open
house and showings.
Rule #4: Plan your Escape
Routes. When
entering a home, look for escape routes. Allow
clients to lead and don't trap or corner yourself.
Avoid basements, attics, etc. where escape routes
are limited. Avoid close quarters such as
narrow hallways, etc.
Rule #5: Plan to carry your
RealGuard Personal Alarm.
Your RealGuard Personal Alarm
is your wireless communications alarm that connects
you to your vehicle alarm and any RealGuard alarms
installed in the home you are showing. This alarm is sure to get noticed in an emergency.
| Safety Tip:
The RealGuard Personal Alarm Unit is
networked to the RealGuard Auto Alarm Unit
installed in your vehicle and any RealGuard
Home Alarms installed in the listed home.
Your Personal alarm has a convenient
flashlight and produces a 95+ decibel alarm.
These products create a sudden and impactful
event designed to drive an attacker away. |
